Paved with Gold and Ashes is a 50-minute all female play about the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory Fire in New York City in 1911. Taking place over the course of one day, before and as the fire erupts, the play follows five young immigrant women working at the factory as they strive for the “American Dream.” The Triangle Shirtwaist Factory Fire was the most fatal American workplace disaster of the 20th century, and the vast majority of casualties were teenage girls, mostly from Eastern Europe or Italy.
