Am I Happy Yet?

by Jack Hesketh

"There’s only so long you can silence the noise in your head until you just have to scream…"

Happy go lucky lad who seems to be running out of luck and even quicker out of ‘Happy’. Questioning what it means to be a lad, a boy, a man as he tackles how to deal with things not often articulated.

This dark comedy written and performed by Jack Hesketh was premiered at SIX PLAYS ONE DAY on Saturday 8th February 2020 at the Tristan Bates Theatre.

AM I HAPPY YET? then ran from the 3rd - 6th March 2020 at the Lion & Unicorn Theatre where it was awarded an Off Comm Commendation.

Author's note.

“When you look into the statistics of mental health issues they are truly frightening; suicide is the biggest killer of men under 45. Mental health is currently being talked about more often and openly in society. However, there needs to be more than an ‘awareness week’ or singular campaign. The conversation and education around the topic needs to be constant. Am I Happy Yet? is drawn from my experience of anxiety and depression and aims to keep engaging people in the conversation around mental health. Throughout the piece, we follow a young man struggle to find his place within society, try to understand and articulate the demons in his mind, and encounter various pitfalls anxiety and depression can lead to, if ignored."
